Using Setbacks to your advantage

We’ve had some good conversations in the group recently around Setbacks.

Although sometimes it feels like you're the only one, setbacks happen to everyone. Falling off track with your training program, losing control of your diet or just not hitting the marks and progressing in the way you’d like. It’s easy to fall into a bit of a negative thought loop and feel like you’ve failed.

What we need to do here is accept that these small setbacks are a part of your journey of self-development; that they are natural, and happen to everyone. Every time we face a setback we have an opportunity to learn, and adjust for the next time we face the same situation.

Ask yourself

  1. What can I learn from this?

  2. How can I adjust for next time?

  3. What steps can I take today to move forward?

If you’ve fallen off track with your training, when is the earliest you can get back in the gym, and start rebuilding that training habit one day at a time. With your diet, focus on preparing your next healthy meal, make a plan to go grocery shopping, and plan your food for the following day. You can only control what you do moving forward, not what’s happened in the past, so accept it and focus on making the choices that will benefit your health

When you’ve learned how to bounce back quickly it will be easier to do next time. You’ll become more resilient, more adaptable, and more confident in your ability to recover.
